Many didnt think Kotucz would be able to hang against Taras "The Blade" Egorov's Wrestling / Muay Thai, but Kotucz seems to have an anti-Wrestling / Muay Thai Sambo / Hand-to-Hand Fighting style. The guy is just really, really good at what he does. Both fighters wasted little time making their way from the dressing room to the ring. Clearly they were all business on this day.
The fighters touch gloves in a show of respect. During the prefight introductions, Greg "Killer" Kotucz paced the ring energetically, seemingly unable to wait for the fight to start. Egorov stood calmly, staring with death in his eyes. After the ref appropriately lectured the fighters, during an incredibly intense staredown, the much aniticipated fight was ready to begin.
Round 1 starts with Sambo / Hand-to-Hand Fighting veteran scoring with punches and knees from the clinch. Both fighters dance a bit and Kotucz swings; "The Blade" quickly clinches and takes him down. Egorov punches to the body as Greg looks to a flying triangle choke. He loses it and the action slows. The ref stands them up. Taras "The Blade" Egorov hammerfists then connects with some nice shots to the ribs. "The Blade" slams Kotucz to the mat and lands several hard punches to Kotucz's exposed ribs. "Go home to your mother and hide under the blanket."Kotucz is on his side attempting a neck crank with "The Blade" landing punches to Kotucz's ribs as the round ends.
In round 2 Taras attempted a takedown but ended up taking guard after Greg sprawled. Egorov is starting to breathe heavy with an open mouth, but continues to throw leather. "Killer" transitions into a toehold attempt but Egorov defends and spins out. "What doesn't kill you makes you suscebtible for greater injury." yelled Greg. Taras was getting a little too aggressive here in his attacks, and "Killer" was able to land the arm bar which was tight enough that Taras tapped out at 00:22.
The crowd is going nuts for Greg. Once again Greg cuts a great promo. Heavier than he has been in several years, Greg strangely seemed to have much better cardio than when he looked "lean and mean" at a much lighter weight. Taras paced the ring restlessly clearly not happy with himself or the result of the fight. Greg "Killer" Kotucz was taking the moment in completely, jumping to the top rope, posing to the crowds as they cheered him on.
