While Scott is known for his electrifying Kickboxing / San Shou skills and non-stop attacks, "Cool Hand" Luke Hansen is a cat-quick Boxing/Judo fighter who will also bang. The general consensus at ringside among MMA "experts" was that "Cool Hand" Luke Hansen would simply be too polished for Scotts Kickboxing / San Shou background; so much for "expert" opinions.
You could feel the tremendous respect these two fighters have for each other, as they touched gloves prior to the start of the fight. But as the retired to their respective corners, you couldnt help but realize that that wouldnt stop them from attempting to hurt the other as soon as that bell rung. Scott Adams looked calm and confident as the ref ran down the rules of the fight. "Cool Hand" Luke Hansen in comparison looked eager to get the fight started. In the pre-fight staredown, neither fighter's eyes left those of the other. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Adams lands a nice right hand to start the round off and then lands a stiff jab. Adams bouncing around and looking very confident standing. Adams ducks down and shoots in, Luke sprawls, and pulls guard. Scott Adams looks to gain the top position off of a scrammble but is forced to his back again. Scott is trying to hook a leg in guard but Hansen backs out. Oh, beautiful sweep by Adams! That was a textbook maneuver. He's looking to capitalize on this position by raining down punches on "Cool Hand".
Hansen overextends himself a little too much and finds himself caught in a front choke by Scott he struggles free only to be caught again moments later. This time he taps, ending the bout at 02:09 of round 1.
Adams is a gamer, theres no doubt. But is he ready for the big time? Or, can he stay atop once he has left not doubt that he belongs there. Time will tell.
