Diaz looks like a semi-dead zombie ready to eat horse shoes and spit out nails. Hunter looks almost collegiate in comparison. Nate enters the arena happy. Van Dam enters with a shirt full of sponsors...and I mean full of sponsors. He looks much more calm.
Both fighters came in with something to prove and its been no secret they the two were not the best of friends. During the prefight introductions, Nate "suck my &#@%" Diaz paced the ring energetically, seemingly unable to wait for the fight to start. Van Dam stood calmly, staring with death in his eyes.
Round 1 starts with a heavy jab followed by a punches and kick that drops Nate. "The Sickle" pulls Diaz's head into a Thai clinch an uncorks knee after knee. Diaz does a good job of blocking them. Hunter stuffs the takedown attempts and throws bombs, ducking under Diaz's punches and landing his own. They're trading punches: left, right, left, right. Someone could get dropped here any minute! Oh, he's rocked! Van Dam is rocked! What a turn of events we're seeing here. Just a few minutes ago, I would have told you that Nate was in for a long night. Let's see if he can keep up this momentum. Diaz starts dropping elbows on Van Dam's head. "The Sickle" misses a big knee to the head attempt and Nate capitalizes with a stiff roundhouse. The fight went to the judges who ruled it a draw.
In the following interview Diaz was respectful towards Hunter and stated how he is now back on track with his mind in the right place. LetÂ’s hope the Diaz that fought tonight hangs around!!!
