"Diesel" vs. Aleks had it's share of controversy. Aleks basically avoided "Diesel", as "Diesel" seemd the stronger fighter in this matchup.
The ref talked the fighters through the usual rules. Neither seemed to notice as they were so intent and focused on the opponent standing across from them that in a few seconds they would be attempting to rip apart. In the pre-fight staredown, neither fighter's eyes left those of the other. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Round 1 begins with blazing pace, as the opponents begin to blindly punch each other. The exchange is even but the pace quickly loses steam as both fighters tire. "Diesel" clowns some with swinging arms and he looks like a lion. "The End" fought a smart fight from this point, working the fight on the ground where he dominated with his sweeps and solid positioning. "The End" with a knee to the face. "The End" Aleks Drago uses forearms and Jason "Diesel" Duke uses elbows from his back. Moving from half-guard to mount to back-control, Drago took a decided edge in the contest when Jason decided to stand while the other clung to his back. Seconds later Drago wrapped a north/south choke on, but it was all for nought as the bell rang soon after ending the round.
Round 2 starts with a heavy jab followed by a punch and kick that drops Duke. kicking on the ground by Drago. "Diesel" feints hoping Drago comes in; Drago does and lands a right. "The End" Aleks Drago slaps Duke into a Thai clinch and throws some great knees into his face as pulls his head down. Duke is unable to block them all and looks the worse for wear after the exchange ends. Drago steps in and eats a knee, Jason is obviously looking to keep the distance and pick his shots. "Diesel" pulls guard with about 20 seconds to go. Aleks lands some good shots within "Diesel"'s guard to end the stanza.
After an extended feeling out process, Freestyle Fighting veteran partially landed a right leg head kick that was countered by an attempted takedown. Duke quickly slapped on a front choke that would cost him a lot of energy, but would not finish the match. Jason "Diesel" Duke pounced and they scrambled along the fence. "The End" recovered well but Jason "Diesel" Duke landed a single-leg takedown. Shortly, "Diesel" had a Drago in trouble with a tight achilles lock but to his credit, Drago fought himself out of the hold and continued to successfully defend. Aleks battles to his feet and takes a couple knees to the gut from Duke.
Jason goes for the leg scissors and gets it ending the bout at 00:49 of round number 3.
"The End" paced the ring restlessly clearly not happy with himself or the result of the fight. Jason was taking the moment in completely, jumping to the top rope, posing to the crowds as they cheered him on. In closing it appears that any animosity from Jason "Diesel" Duke's part is gone as he proceeds to lift up "The End" for the audience in a show of respect. Backstage, after the fight, Jason gave a short interview from the dressing room. When asked if he would be taking some time off, he made it clear that he had no intention on resting on his laurels. It would be right back to work for him.
