There were alot of questions coming into this one. Namely how would "The Prodigy"'s Submission Fighting matchup against "Akebono"'s Sumo. It is said that styles make matches, and this one certainly seemed like a good fit. Looking badder and seedier than ever, Ryder proved that he is still bad news for whoever gets into the cage with him. In a much anticipate fight, Chad "Akebono" Rowan, hailing from USA, took on highly skilled Submission Fighting practicioner, Nick "The Prodigy" Ryder, in crowd pleasing 1 round fight.

You could feel the tremendous respect these two fighters have for each other, as they touched gloves prior to the start of the fight. But as the retired to their respective corners, you couldnt help but realize that that wouldnt stop them from attempting to hurt the other as soon as that bell rung. Nick "The Prodigy" Ryder looked in exremely good shape for this one. More cut than usual, you could tell he went on a cardio kick for this one. Chad "Akebono" Rowan did not look like he trained quite so hard for this one in comparison. During the prefight introductions, Nick paced the ring energetically, seemingly unable to wait for the fight to start. Rowan stood calmly, staring with death in his eyes.

At the opening bell The Prodigy charged across the ring, clinched with Akebono and tried to take him out early. Although The Prodigy scored with several hard blows, Akebono absorbed the punishment and fought back, pushing The Prodigy back across the cage with his superior strength and clinching him against the cage. Nick stepped in with a punch and kick, but was not able to take control, as Rowan held his ground. "Akebono" seemed to have energy to spare, looking great with the jabs, haymakers and hooks, "Akebono" throws some hard leg kicks, but Nick is countering with vicous right crosses. Nick drops him with one of them and "Akebono" briefly attempts an anklelock, but doesnÂ’t do much more than butt-scoot. Ryder is attempting the flying armbar, "Akebono" pulls out and blocks Ryder's leg. Ryder in the rubberguard, Ref stands them up againÂ… Nick quickly dispatched opponent Chad with a towel, strikes before Chad knew what hit him at just 01:23 of the first round.

That was an excellent fight. We always knew that this matchup would create fireworks in the ring, and the outcome definitely did not disappoint. With Nick moving up the ladder, we could very well see a new champion in the making. "The Prodigy" really played up to crowd afterwards, and they ate up every bit of it. Clearly this is one star that is on the rise.
