Welcome About, Join, Login

Fantasy MMA Fighters are your alter ego in the Fantasy Mixed Martial Arts world. They are the characters you use to compete against others, and your goal is to build their fight record as high as possible, and winning the championship belts in your selected organization.

  1. 1. Fighter Vitals

When you select the option to create a Fantasy MMA Mixed Martial Artist, you will be brought through a short process to select your fighter details. You must enter in your new fantasy mixed martial artist's name, nickname, height, weight, age, and location.

It is important that you think before entering in the weight for your fighter. Some organizations may use weight classes. The weight you specify for your fighter will designate which class you belong to when you join that organization.

If you want to compete in a fight against another fantasy mma fighter from another weight class, you may or may not be allowed, or you may or may not be subject to score modifiers depending on that organization's settings.

  2. 2. Fighting Style

When creating a new Fantasy Mixed Martial Arts Fighter you will be asked to select a fighting style. These range from Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, Ground and Pound, Sambo, Shootfighting, etc, basically any fighting discipline currently being practiced by mixed martial artists. If you have seen a fighter fight with a certain style in Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) or Pride Fighting Championships, or any of the other great fighting organizations, then MakeSportMMA most likely has it listed as well. If not then feel free to request to have it added!

The style that you select for your fighter will be an important factor in the method (Knockout, Submission, etc) that is randomly chosen for the outcome of your fights. Note, it has no effect on whether you actually win the fight, it only helps to determine what method is given as the finish of the fight. If you are a fan of submission fighting, and would like to see your fighter's record abound with submission victories, you would be advised to select a fighting style that more favours submission style of fighting.

Note: Each fantasy martial arts event that you compete in falls under one category: MMA, Striking, or Grappling. Striking events can only end in a Knockout (KO), Technical Knockout (TKO), or Decision. Grappling events can only end in Submission (SUB), or Decision. MMA events can end in all of the above. Regardless of your fighting style, if the event is specified as either Grappling or Submission style then your fights will only be allowed to end in their respective methods.

  3. 3. Preferred Attacks

When creating a new MMA Fighter you will be asked to select preferred attacks. An extensive list is provided for you to choose from with each move being listed as a Submission move (SUB), Technical Knockout move (TKO), or Knockout move (KO).

You are asked to select a preferred attack for 3 categories, Dominant Victories, Solid Victories, and Close Victories. When you compete in a fantasy mma organization, and defeate another Fantasy Fighter in a fight, the victory will be classified as one of these categories. The category that is chosen depends on how many points you outscore your opponent by, and the fantasy mma organization's settings for these magnitudes.

If the method randomly assigned for the fight outcome matches up with method type of your preferred attack for that victory magnitude, that hold will have a high chance of being assigned to the fight outcome (but not a 100% chance).

  4. 4. Fight Transcript Quotes

When you compete in a Fantasy MMA Fight, a randomly generated transcript of the fight will also be created. You can created quotes for your fighter which may be included in these transcripts. Each quote falls under a specific category: Pre (before the fight descriptions), Middle (during the fight descriptions) and Post (post-fight interviews, etc).

You can create any number of quotes, and they may or may not be randomly selected for inclusion in the transcripts. The quotes that are used are the ones that exist at the time of the transcript is created (the first time it is viewed) and not neccessarily at the time the fight took place originally.

  5. 5. Cross-Organization Competition

You can select which fantasy mixed martial arts organisations will have the ability to add your fighter to events. When you select an organization, the administrator can either accept or reject this offer. If they accept, then your fighter will show up in their fighter listings when creating new events.

In this way, you can compete in many organizations while remaining in your regular organization.

To stay informed of what fights you are being added to, whenever you are added to a fight card a note will appear on your My Fighter page.

You can place your predictions for any fight card, from any organisation, from your the My Fighter section as well. You must enter in predictions for each fantasy fight card that you are on, even if they use the same real-world fights to bet on.

  6. 6. Status

You can set your fighter to 'Inactive' status if you do not want to be added to any fight cards. This is handy if you plan on being away for a period of time.

  7. 7. Cutting/Bulking Weight

If cutting/bulking weight is permitted by your fantasy organization, fantasy fighters will be able to move between weight classes to compete against other opponents at different weights. Just as in the real world, a regular 170 lb fighter may bulk up to 190 lbs to compete in the higher weight division. And just in the real-world where this is not always optimal for the fighter whose performance may suffer by fighting at the unaccustomed weight, there may be performance modifiers associated with doing so in your fantasy organization.

A performance modifier is specified number of points that will be deducted from your total score for a fight card when you cut/bulk a certain percentage of your normal body weight (specified when you created your fantasy fighter). For example, you may have 5 points deducted for cutting 10% of your normal body weight. For a 200 pound fighter this would be 20 lbs, whereas for a fantasy fighter who is normally 170 lbs, this would only be 17 lbs. Your fantasy fighters regular body weight cannot be changed, only the current weight you have decided to cut/bulk up to.
